Pontoon Brewery is looking for a friendly, reliable, energetic beertender with open availability to complete our team. Must be over 21 and able to work among a team of motivated servers in a fast-paced environment. Beer and wine serving and craft beer knowledge and food-pairing knowledge is a must for this position. At Pontoon Brewing we don't have a liquor license. As such, our bartender position is primarily focused on our staple and seasonal brews. Hence 'beer'-tender! From the quality of the beer, to the atmosphere of the taproom area, a guest's impression of the brewery begins as soon as they walk through the door. Their experience must be excellent. In addition to the day to day activities, beertenders will be expected to learn everything they can about our beers, the production process and craft beer in general. They will be expected to guide guests to beers they would enjoy, and explain the differences between staple and seasonal styles. Knowledge of BJCP Styles is important, as is knowledge of current trends of the craft-beer industry, including hop, grain and yeast choices.

The Packaging Specialist is responsible for operating our canning and bottling lines and ultimately, every aspect involved in the packaging process. Additionally, they will assist in cellar tasks and cleaning duties and will report to the Head Brewer.

Responsible for every aspect of operating and maintaining our label applicator
Supervise staff in all activities in accordance with operational policies and procedures, including safe operation of all packaging equipment, pumps, tanks, and forklifts.
Enforce proper equipment use and maintenance
Enforce proper PPE use, and safe handling and storage of chemicals
Assist with orientation, training, and skills development of team members consistent with established operational and safety procedures.
Review employment applications and conducts interviews for Packaging Tech candidates when needed
Develop and update packaging SOPs as needed
Ensure packaging teams maintain a clean and safe workspace
Checking CO2 levels with appropriate instrumentation on forced carbonated beers prior to packaging
Checking DO levels with appropriate instrumentation while in the brite tank and in the can
Monitoring quality control to ensure that the beer being packaged is as absolutely perfect as it can possibly be
Inventory management on all items relevant to packaging, including cans, lids, bottles, labels, pak techs, kegs, etc.,
Monitoring quality control on finished labeled and waxed bottles
Cleaning and maintaining the canning line and packaging work area
Clean and properly store kegs
Clean and sanitize keg cleaning lines prior to and post kegging
Properly mark/identify filled kegs with appropriate collars
Operate a forklift to transport pallets
Maintain an orderly and safe work environment within department as well as entire facility
Participate in regular departmental meetings to review issues and propose solutions
Follow strict SOP’s to clean the brite tanks/fermenters post packaging
Be a team player with ability to interact with all levels within the organization
Safely handle cleaning chemicals, and using the prescribed amount for each task
Preparation of an endless array of ingredients bound for beer

Require 1 year previous brewery experience in a packaging role

The Cellarman is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing fermentation and conditioning tanks, as well as transferring beer from tank to tank, ensuring the beer is transferred in an aseptic manner. The Cellarman is also responsible for monitoring the fermentation of beer, the cooling of fermenting and conditioning beer, and carbonating beer to the correct level. The Cellarman cleans and sanitizes product lines and equipment. Cleaning duties will include floors, outsides of tanks, parts, floor drains, racks and containers. No job is too big or too small. And it is really cool to be working at a craft brewery!
Help to carryout the day-to-day operations of the brewhouse, cellar and packaging areas.
Cellar-work includes yeast management, tank and equipment cleaning (CIP) and sanitation, keg cleaning, filtration, racking, carbonation & fermenter additions.
Packaging involves box building, lid coding, keg filling and working on the canning line.
Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
Maintain yeast disposal/harvest, and grain area cleanup schedule.
Operate brewery equipment to maintain acceptable inventory levels of raw materials, brewing supplies and finished beer.
Troubleshooting equipment problems as they arise.
Ensure consistency and a high-level of quality in the production of the company’s beers.
Responsible for the cleanliness & sanitation of all equipment, tanks and work areas.
Keep brewery clean and well-organized.
Comply with all safety and health codes.
Industrial setting, with frequent exposure to the following:
Moving mechanical parts and equipment.
Wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.
Common brewing industry chemicals and gases.
Fumes or airborne particles.
Physical work setting
Ability to work on your feet for hours at a time in an uncontrolled (hot/cold) climate.
Ability to climb stairs, fit into tight spaces, and work on ladders and lifts.
Ability to move freely. Including, but not limited to: walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, etc.
Ability to lift 55 lbs. from ground to shoulder height, move kegs, and operate forklift/hand truck.
Must be available approximately 4 days per week. Weekend or evening work, as needed.
